We have been going to Grand Lake and renting a cabin every summer for 10+ years now so have gotten to know the area fairly well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much but in all honestly, there were some things we didn’t like. I will be as objective as I can so I can give you, the potential renter, information we find to be pertinent.
What we liked
- The cabin is built very well with many high end touches
- The bedrooms were large and overall very comfortable (some chairs in the second bedroom would be a nice improvement)
- Check in could not have been any easier
- We did have an issue that needed fixing and the company that owns the property was very responsive and fixed it immediately
- The deck was large and comfortable
What we did not like
- The location: This is our primary “dislike.” The pics make it look as if the cabin is isolated in the forest. It is, in fact, in a neighborhood. We were looking forward to letting our daughters go out and explore the woods and we could not let them do so as they would have been trespassing through the neighbors properties.
- Not all of the windows had screens so we could not open some to get a cross breeze on the warmer days
- The dishwasher, although a very high-end model, is oddly designed. It has two individual dishwashers that allow you to run small loads if needed. To that end, the plates could not stand upright in either the top or bottom as they were too big so we had to wash them by hand for ease of purpose
- Although stocked, the kitchen needs to be replenished. There were very few bowls for food storage (something we have found to be pretty standard), the nonstick coating on the pans has worn off, and the knives were all dull
- The pics of the interior were taken in a way so that it made the rooms (particularly the family room, dining room, and kitchen) look bigger than they actually are. Not a huge issue as the difference was slight but we definitely noticed that when we saw the cabin in person.
Overall, with the exception of the location, we did like the place and would not dissuade someone from staying here as it is very nice. But, if I’m being honest, there were too many “dislikes” for a property that is in this price range (and this is at 2021 prices.. I notice 2022 prices are substantially higher).
