We had a brief stay and it was lovely, our host was so helpful and understanding to our needs for our situation. The property was fantastic our room was so modern, clean and comfortable, parking was easy and convenient. We intend to stay again in spring for a longer break and cant wait.

Amazing
We had an lovely view from our window. The room was large & well equipped. The large bed was really comfortable. Mathew is friendly & has mastered that fine balance of helpful but not intrusive. We enjoyed a fantastic cooked breakfast. Highly recommended if you want a peaceful base to explore the beautiful Forest of Bowland.

This is a superbly welcoming B&B in a beautifully converted barn in a peaceful location with lovely views. Very warm welcome from Matthew who showed me to my comfortable and well fitted room and explained everything to me. I enjoyed chatting with him and Helena later in the evening, and also thoroughly enjoyed the superb breakfast.

Quaint, Isolated, beauty.
Matthew and Helen could not have been better hosts. It has been a while since I stayed in a b&b I had forgotten what a warm and welcoming experience they can provide. Communication was excellent especially after a bad travel day and my late arrival. Breakfast was honestly one of the best fry ups I’ve ever had, I will be back for a longer stay with time to explore the area

We had an excellent stay at Clerk Laithe Lodge. The B & B is in a wonderful position overlooking the beautiful Trough of Bowland, and our room had fine views across the valley to the hills beyond. From the outset, Matthew and Helena went out to their way to be friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was sizeable and very well appointed, and the breakfast offered an excellent choice. We ate an evening meal at Clerk Laithe and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We will certainly consider returning should the opportunity arise.

The property was exactly what I wanted, quiet rural location, excellent facilities, clean and spacious. Matthew and Helena offer a service which is exceptional from start to finish, traditional home cooked food served with a welcome which is unsurpassed.

The rooms are spacious and very nice. Cosy. You get all you need and for change you will have proper mugs for your tea/coffee. The host is outstanding. You feel like home. Breakfast very good. We will be back

Our stay was wonderful, the owners were very welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable with lots of little extras like a jar of chocolate biscuits which the children loved. Breakfast was delicious. We will be back thank you

Great food and lodgings.
Comfortable room with super king bed, south facing views over fells. Excellent hosts and the food is top class. Great access to the Forest of Bowland AONB. One of the best B&Bs I have ever stayed in.

Wonderful
Aside from having very cosy room that was well stocked with welcoming snacks and with everything spotlessly clean, Clerk Laithe Lodge also boasted excellent, friendly service and delicious breakfasting options. The owner was especially helpful in organising a taxi service, as well as in providing information on walks in the locality. I would not hesitate in recommending this lodging to those interested in exploring what is an as yet underappreciated area of classic English countryside.

PLEASE READ!! HORRIBLE
This was by far the worst experience I have ever had in my life. The story starts with booking the room at 10:30 pm. We arrive at 12:00am that night to a dark unlit house. In the middle of nowhere. That would all be fine had someone been avable to let us into the room we had paid for. Of course the taxi driver leaves us emediatly without finding out if we could get in or not. Once we realized we could not get in to the hotel we tried calling a cab. The cab service could not get to us for a hour and half. We had just left a wedding and my wife was in a dress with open toe shoes. The temperature was 8 degrees celsius with a strong wind. I gave my wife my jacket and wrapped my scarf around her feet and waited. While waiting I left a strongly worded voicemail at the front desk. After waiting in the cold for a hour and a half the owner finally showed up to let us in. After the nights stay we go to check out. He scolds me about the voice mail and says I’m a typical rude American and then proceeds,after leaving us in the cold for almost two hours the night previous, charge me more money as I only booked the room for one person not two. You would think that’s the end of the nightmarish event but no there is more. After we leave and head back to the wedding venue to get our vehicle. We are stopped by the cops and and I am informed that the owner had called and reported to the police that there was a domestic despite between my wife and that I had put my hands on her. Absolute unreal!

You reserved a Single room and arrived as 2 guests at 12.45am on Saturday morning by taxi, 3 hours past our check-in of 9.30 pm, I was closing up for the night. You were very drunk and abusive, I found you sat outside for some reason. I let you into a Double room as a gesture, me being nice as your female guest was upset, wish I hadn’t. In the morning you you objected to being charged extra for a Double room, I responded that you were lucky I had let you in due to your behaviour. Called a taxi for you as your car was at a venue in town. A policeman guest with us advised me it was my duty to contact the police to ensure you did not drive as you were still in no state to, the reason them waiting for you. We later found out that day you were refused admission to a hotel booking at the venue due to you being abusive hence you arriving with us. No idea you were American You wont be welcome here as you should show more respect. Your review a pack of ???

Country getaway.
The bed and breakfast was in a beautiful area with lovely views over the valley. It's set alone with an easy ten minute walk down the hill to the village, where there is a gourmet pub. Good news as therecis no food in the B&B on Friday and Saturday The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was also very good with hearty helpings of good quality breakfast meats. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The only downfall was the state of the property. It needed a good tidy up, the garden area was a mess and needed attention. The first impressions were not good at all which is a shame because everything else was fantastic.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Lovely clean room with a beautiful view. Mathew arranged us a taxi which was really nice of him. Everything you needed and more was in the room tea coffee biscuits water toiletries even cotton buds. Breakfast was amazing and so much choice. Best B&B we've stayed in

Perfect acomodation in beautiful surroundings!
As we were attending a wedding in Slaidburn, this accommodation was ideally placed being only a mile or so away. The hosts; Matthew and Helena, couldn’t do enough for us to make our stay extremely comfortable. The B&B is situated in idyllic surroundings in an AONB and the room was high quality with everything we needed including a private enterance, complimentary toiletries and snacks and use of a fridge which was essential as we had a young child with us! We received a warm, friendly welcome and check in and out was simple. We would certainly recommend this B&B to anyone and would definitely stay there again.

Great views, birds and night sky
very comfortable, spacious room with lots of small birds in the garden. Breakfast was excellent. Our welcome by the owner was very friendly. Spent the days enjoying the countryside and had dinner in the village. The walk back on a clear night showed up the amazing stars you can see from here.

Brilliant B&B in fantastic location with friendly
We had a brilliant stay with Matthew and Heléna they are wonderful hosts who even though we were only booked in for one night they couldn't have been more welcoming. On the Sunday, checking out day, we were meeting family for dinner at The nearby Parker Arms (also excellent) and with a couple of hours to kill Matthew and Heléna insisted we just hang out. So we sat on a sun drenched terrace listening to the lambs, while they kept offering us more coffee, what's not to like.

Relaxing homely stay with great hosts!
Had a fab time - owners were very accommodating and helpful! The full English was worth breaking the diet for, just make sure you're hungry! The famiur Northern hospitality is epitomised here, they make you feel like part of the family. Will definitely be staying here agin next time I'm up that way - very peaceful, and some great country driving!

I cannot find anything to bad about this b&b. From walking through the door, nothing was to much trouble for the hosts. The location is unbelievably good, the room was fantastic, as was the food. Will be going again
