Eclipse viewing :-)
The cabin was perfectly situated for eclipse viewing and my family had a great time. My husband wished he had gotten to be there at a snowier time, but you can’t pick the day of an eclipse! Quiet and the view of stars at night were excellent, as well.

The property overall was alright. It definitely needed to be cleaner. The sheets needed to be washed, also the dishes were in the dishwasher not washed. There is not much to work with as far as cooking. Also, on Sunday morning someone decided to mow the lawn, which was totally inconsiderate and unnecessary. They might consider putting blinds on the windows and fix the door to get out to the lake which was stuck.

The Sunday mower was myself, Michelle Gamage, and I didn't get started until after 11 am, being very considerate of my guests who want to sleep in. I also had my son hand delivered salt and pepper when asked to provide. Ignoring check out times is actually the most inconsiderate of all.

Nice setup with everything you need
Really nice setup. Roomy enough to entertain company. All the amenities you would ever need are provided. Definitely would book again. One bathroom is the only downfall.

these cabins are awesome.. 2nd time there, since new owners now, very friendly and welcoming.. just so warm and comfy!! clean and having the amenities needed and provided..thank you Michelle... oh and if you want to make reservations ya might wanna book ahead these 3 cabins go quick!!!

Best snowmobile trip
Arrived late to a nice warm cabin. Everything is in cabin when you get there. Linens, pots,pans,utensils, washer+dryer. Trail to connect to main trails is right out back. Easy out, easy back. Already booked our trip for next year. Thanks Jesse.

Amazing Experience
The cabin was beautiful and the other people in the cabins were so friendly and welcoming. The owner, Jesse, was an excellent host. We loved every second of our stay. We will be back!

Beautiful views from this classic log cabin
From start to finish, Jesse was great to communicate with. All of our needs were met, and then some. He went over and above for us, and took care of anything we asked over and above what is typical. The cabin was beautiful, clean, and well furnished. Stocked with staples that we assumed we’d need to bring for ourselves. The property and grounds are very well maintained. The kids enjoyed the pond, the adults enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings, and the views at sunset are incredible! Thank you for a great stay from our crew of 11, including 6 kids and 3 dogs! Would highly recommend to others looking for a beautiful, quiet, and clean getaway.

Cabin Rental Experience
My family relocated to the Aroostook County area and we needed a place to stay in between our home closing dates. Jesse accommodated my family including my two large dogs (and was even willing to accommodate an extension of our stay if our closing date was delayed). Jesse was a great host, and we will definitely recommend our family and friends to stay there when they come visit! The cabin was comfy and the outdoor area was relaxing. There was a pond and a fire pit right next to our cabin.

Good times were had by all.
We enjoyed our stay here. Check-in/out went smoothly. Easy access to the snowmobile trail. We did have to get a rack/shelves to put inside the door so there wasn’t boots and gear covering half the floor. Good time overall and will be back next year!

Cabin Getaway
This is a great place to stay. Particularly if your looking to do some outdoor activities like snowmobiling. We also really enjoyed the ability to bring our dog along rather than leaving her at the kennel. If your looking for a Northern Maine getaway this is your spot. Thanks Andy Brewer

Perfect winter get away
We had the best time. Cabin was right out of a movie. Grounds were great for snowshoeing and fireside sitting!!! Jesse was the perfect host. We're already booked for next year.

A gem in the Crown of Maine
5 outta 5. Jesse and his team are on point. The cabin is beyond comfortable. Modern, clean and pet friendly, our pup didn't want to leave. Be back soon.

Almost perfect
Jesse was somewhat hard to reach (hunting season), it took over 48 hours to get a response. The final day I reached out to him by phone 1.5 hours away and he told me they were still cleaning and that check in wasn't until 2. The website said 1, but I reached out to Jesse months in advance about checking in early and he said anytime that day was fine. My friends and I left at 0400 for a 6.5 hour ride based on checking in early. The other issue was that the previous tenant left his vehicle and personal belongings in the cabin which was weird. The cabin had two grills which were filthy with stuck on food. The freezer was dirty with food stains and some dead flies, also some strange meat that Jesse was storing there which he came and picked up. The fire pit was filled with beer cans. There were also a lot of flies in the cabin. we must have killed 20-30 flies. Jesse also dropped off tons of paper towels, toilet paper and cleaning supplies which took up the entire kitchen table which we had to put away. Now that being said, The cleaners only delayed us about an hour, the grill and fire pit was an easy clean along with putting the groceries away. The fridge was very clean as well as the rest of the cabin. The beds and linens were clean and beds were comfortable. Tons of wood for the firepit (very large pieces ,still fresh and hard to get going but we got it). I would definitely move the TV, it was on the other side of the house from the living room. Overall, Jesse ended up being a pretty cool guy. He explained where the ATV trails were and even supplied trail maps. My friends and I had a blast and would definitely stay here again.

Interesting hunters retreat
Property was well maintained, clean, but had an ant problem. The taxidermy was pretty incredible, though I’m not a hunter. There was a pond on the property which had many dead fish in it. Did not see a live fish, so not sure what was going on there. We did experience seeing an Eagle while there, which was amazing. Overall, the property was nice and well maintained, less the dead fish and ants. The surrounding town with the hills where beautiful as well.

Wasn’t aware of the ants, nor was this issue brought up to us while the guest was here, but will rectify. A recent drought is to blame for the algae bloom and fish die off, we are working with chemicals to treat the pond and clear the algae

These cabins are for everyone!
I travel from MD to ME every summer to visit family. I brought my 4 kids and dog, and we all loved Backwoods. The cabins are amazing (my sister stayed next door with her kids), super clean, and so spacious. We rode the UTV, had a cookout in the fire pit by the stocked lake, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The Cotes are wonderful people, and they checked on us unobtrusively to make sure we had all we needed. No matter your reason for visiting northern Maine, Backwoods is the place to stay. I highly recommend it, and will return next year for sure. Thank you all for a fabulous stay!

Perfect Northern Maine Retreat
What a find!! It is BEAUTIFUL! So clean that it feels like you are the first one to stay ever. The appliances are all top end. The mattresses are new and comfortable. Jesse and his dad Ron were friendly and ready to help. There was lots of outdoor space for my dogs to run and the pond added to the scenic views. I will definitely be back when I travel to Northern Maine.

Great cabin, very spacious and comfortable. Tremendous value!
This is our second trip to this cabin and we have since booked a third trip. The Cote’s are very friendly and accommodating. Ron checked on us several times during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Our kids loved it too. The snowmobile trails were fantastic and the groomer literally drives around the cabin, so you can’t get any closer to trail access. The weather wasn’t too cooperative, but that is something that anybody can influence. It gave us more time relaxing in the cabin, so it worked out just fine. I’d highly recommend!
