Location, location!
Wonderful location if you want the beach within walking distance. Moonstone Beach and Fiscalini preserve easily accessible. The deck was a plus. The kitchen is well equipped. The appliances were new and worked well. There were 6 of us, so the large dining table worked well. The house was smaller than I imagined from the description and photos. The downstairs bedrooms are very small. There are things that could be done to bring the quality of this house up to a 5…the downstairs smelled of mildew. The WiFi worked in the living room, but did not work in the bedrooms. The mattress in the master bedroom was lumpy and tilted. The carpeting in the living room could stand to be replaced…it looks worn and dingy. The bathroom downstairs could use some upgrading. The house served us well enough, but not a 5.

Stellar Ocean Views
The main floor of this rental works really well for crowded get-togethers, lounging, big dinners, tranquil repose or slide shows/movies/game nights. Views from every window but no neighbors looking in. Truly incredible views of the beach and a deck that offers a fantastic place to take in the elements with comfortable furniture. The kitchen was well stocked with great amenities - nice welcome tray of goodies upon arrival. The primary bedroom was incredibly comfortable. The twin bedroom was perfect for teenagers or kiddos, but perhaps not the best option for bigger adults. There were plenty of towels and soaps, extra linens and blankets. Downstairs, there were 2 more bedrooms with queen beds that were bright and cozy at the same time. The second communal space downstairs would serve well for gaming or as a kid-appointed screen room. The futon couch would not be comfortable for an adult to sleep on for more than a night. Under the stairs there were extra fans and beach chairs, thoughtful and generous considerations. The bathroom downstairs was great with exposed wooden beams and a big shower. Our party appreciated the towel racks in the bedrooms, too. The garage was available to park in and the backyard was enormous for Cambria, with beautiful landscaping and great spaces. We all agreed that it would be a perfect choice for a longer stay in the future. It is close to Shamel Park and Main Street, and the sound of the crashing waves was restorative! Family getaway
What a lovely home to stay in for a family getaway. The huge kitchen is well supplied with anything you need to cook. There is plenty of room for our family of 8 and it felt very homey. We enjoyed walking a block to the beach and Shamel Park with our grandkids to enjoy the spectacular sunsets. Truly a gem!

1/2 block to the beach!
We were 7 friends. The house was plenty large for our size group, including beds, dining table seats, plates, cups, glasses. Very short walk to the beach. We would definitely stay here again.

Can't beat the views!
Our family stayed here for an early Thanksgiving trip. When we arrived we immediately were overwhelmed with the beautiful ocean views. Even in November the weather was warm and the skies were clear, so we enjoyed sitting out on the deck watching and listening to the ocean waves. All we had to do was walk to the end of the street and there was a cute park with a playground for the kids to play and right behind it is the beach! It was a short drive to our Hearst Castle tour. I did have to contact the host once with a question and they quickly responded. We look forward to another visit next year.

Perfect!!
I can't even begin to explain how this 2022 Ladies' get-away was perfected by our stay here at A Surf-Break. When arriving coming upstairs, the view was incredible. Comfortable for all 7 of us. The kitchen was a perfect size. The large dining room table worked perfect for our group breakfasts and dinners. Large sofa was perfect for us as well. There was no need for anything, other than our groceries. Thank you Vera and Jonathan! We will be back.

ANNIVERSARY GET AWAY
Everyone who visited us could not believe how comfortable the home was just to sit and visit. It was foggy most of the time but the fresh air and the sound of the waves was a welcomed feature. Can't wait to come back in January!!!

Perfect Place for US!
Vera was friendly and responded quickly. Easy check in. Our party of 8 was happy with the table to seat 8. Kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. Beds are comfortable, sleeps 8 more accurately, if you double up. Fold out was not used and probably would not use. The views were amazing, close short walk to the beach. We could laugh hard and loud and didn’t feel we disturbed anyone. Felt private. Thank for the great week at your perfect home. For US! We’re already planning for next year!

Quintessential Central Coast beach house
The house was clean and had everything that we needed. It's not too far from the West End downtown and has excellent views of the ocean and Santa Lucia Mountains. The neighborhood was quiet. This is a great place for a group of friends or a family and it is a quintessential Central Coast beach house. There was an internet outage while we were there and the host kept us informed on updates from the internet provider since one of our group members needed to get some work done. She even offered us a discount for the trouble.

Making Family Memories
The location of this property and the 3-sided deck is amazing. Although we expected to have good ocean views, we were delighted to discover we could actually hear the ocean from the property. Group of 8 celebrated my 65th here. Wonderful property. Great location. Walk to park and beach. Plenty of room and very clean. Becky was great! Only downside is if you have old knees, there are 2 flights of stairs you have to carry up all your belongings. Otherwise highly recommended!

Fantastic Location/Amenities
We had such a wonderful time. The location was Fantastic. The ocean views spectacular. A short stroll to the beach and a fun park/playground for the kids. Also walking distance to hiking trails and a short drive (or walk) to downtown Cambria. Easy access to Harmony, the lighthouse, Hearst Castle, Hearst ranch zebra sightings and elephant seals. The house is clean comfortable and well stocked. It had everything we needed for grown ups and kiddos alike.

Scrapbooking Retreat
We had a great stay as a group of us get together every year for a scrapbooking retreat. The view were beautiful and we enjoyed the deck very much! House is older and carpet is worn and dirty, but overall the house is kept up nicely.

Perfect home, terrible communication
A lovely home. Zero communication with the elderly owners who clearly have no idea how to use technology. The worst part was probably that we showed up with no idea how to check in, no information from the owner, no phone number to reach them, and no response to my mutiple emails. We actually had to google the owners names to find their local phone number just to check in. One would think they would be apologetic after that but they couldn’t care less. We were panicked sitting outside their home for 45 minutes having no clue how to get in. And absolutely not a care in the world from the owners. From the time we purchased the rental 5 months prior to our trip, there were issues with the dates still being available, the trip not showing up in my Vrbo, then the listing disappeared altogether from the site. Through it all, when Becky would reply (usually days later) she was short and gruff. So if you like a side of communication with your rental, look elsewhere.

Birthday week at the beach
Had a great time and enjoyed the beautiful view at this house. Furniture and beds were comfortable. Short walk to the beach or into town for dinner. The only downfall was the parental controls on the TV which cut off any show or movie rated for over age 14. But the property manager was quick to respond to our call in the evening and although she was unable to remove them, we appreciated the quick service.

Amazing home with views that are far greater than pictured.
My family of 5 stayed in this beautiful home. The pictures do no justice when it comes to the amazing views (both day and night!). My only hesitancy of posting this review is it because it may mean the property will be harder to book for a future return, that we vow to do again this year. Truly a gem of a property, for sure our favorite out of the dozen we’ve rented thru VRBO.

We have stayed at this house a few times now and love it more every time we come. Fantastic location a block from the beach. We had 7 girls in the house and we all fit comfortably. Check in was easy with the lockbox. Another year of great memories made.

We were having a small girls weekend/bachelorette party and wanted enough space for everyone to have their own room, and to be able to hang out outside for the most part, to be able to be safe and socially distant. This property was perfect, and the view was incredible.

Beautiful view/Comfortable property
We loved our stay, the beach was so beautiful and a short walk down from the house. The view was wonderful with sunsets and misty clouds rolling over the ocean. The property is not fancy, but has a beautiful view, child friendly comfy furniture and decor. The front patio provided a wonderful lunch spot. The downstairs bedrooms are fine, no view and a little cold, but nicely decorated and good mattresses.. The upstairs bedrooms were very comfortable. The house works well for a group. My only suggestion to the owner would be to hide media cords that are in the open, and provide an option for a fireplace edge safety cushion, and stair baby gate for small kids. There are about 20 stairs to the front door which might be difficult carrying heavy items for some people. I had a wonderful birthday. I would stay there again. Cambria is a beautiful place, lovely small artsy town, and we will return again.

Clean, Comfortable Home
We had a wonderful stay at this two-story property. Two families with seven people had plenty of space to spread out in this clean home. The views are fantastic with the deck that wraps around the home. All of our needs were met with a well stocked kitchen, very long dining room table and a big bbq. I really recommend this property and would stay here again.
