KC we agree, the grounds are wonderful we love being able to expand our kliving space to the deck and patio. With much of the sq. footage going into the Kitchen and living room, the bedrooms especially the kids room is very cozy. I am so glad that we are above the cloud line so most days are good days to play outside.

Shelly who all were the best. Every once in a while things do not go as expected. A battery dies sooner than planned for, the housekeeper misses the lamp swap. But you all took it in stride with a smile. We very much appreciate the communication and help troubleshooting to made the stay right.

Bridget and her family were wonderful guests. Highly recommend. Yes, trails at the Quail Hollow Ranch, Loch Lomond Reservoir, Highland Park, Henry Cowell State Redwood Forest are all very close. And so many other parks and open spaces are a short drive.

We agree the mid-century home is dated, our focus was to expand the living area into the outside and fully renovate the old goat barn to create a detached/home library. Now with a new roof, and electrical system that includes an outlet for an electric car we are taking about next projects and interested in all feedback.

We so agree that during the time of COVID it is wonderful to escape to the private meadow and nearby trails of the Ben Lomond Bungalow. The new deck just about doubled the square footage of the house. This week the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is bringing back drive in movies every Friday and Sat. night for the remainder of the season. Every other parking space will be blocked to allow for social distancing.

Laura, thank you. we are glad yo enjoyed the yard iris also my favorite part of the property. I think it is something about the wide open space of the meadow that is surrounding by thick forest. It is always a treat to see an animal or covey, or flock, or small herd pas through. If you come again, I hope you will be able to spot the albino redwood trees about half way up on the sunset trail.

Courtny, thank you for taking the time to review the property it is important for us to understand your experience and also for the incoming guests. Since we are not a hotel, but a home that we are sharing it is important that our guests do try and treat the home as they would their own precious place, as you obviously did. At this time the primary goal of the housekeeper inbetween each guest is to ensure the house is spotless clean and sanitized. Your last minute reservation mentioned you were arriving with a one year old child and were concerned about time the house was empty between housekeeping and your arrival. The amazing Maria and Diego brought a bit of wizardry to create empty zones between the last guests, cleaning, and your arrival. We are trying to ensure a minimum of 24 hours in-between guests, and 3 hours between guests and housekeeping. We are not the only client of this spectacular cleaning team, but they try hard to make your stay as wondeful as possible. We do ask the that the dishes be washed and put away, that your food be removed from the refrigerator and your garbage be taken to the rubbish bins outside. We do not provide kitchen sponges at all during this time of covid but on occasion a project sponges are under the sink and new sponges are in the supply area. There is always a drawer full of clean washrags, and an abundance of paper towels in the kitchen. The professional crew that comes in weekly includes a landscaper who does blow the deck and pool guy, and a neighbor who fills the fountain, and brings in the garbage cans. The professional housekeeping service comes in-between EVERY GUEST. It is our hope that guests do replace the furniture covers if they chose to use the outside areas but this is clearly an area that needs work. The cushions were replaced just last month, as was the cover which was already back in the wash. Although the deck was blown clean two days prior to your arrival, it is under a big oak tree and when the breeze comes there will be leaves. Although we ask of the guests to leave the house to be left tidy we do let them know the the housekeeper will make up the beds and do the deep clean. There is no requirement to do laundry, however if departing guests have time to start the first load it is very helpful. It is our hope that we provide a fun, safe, affordable mountain estate experience; however we understand that self catering is not for everyone. By working together we can keep your cost of house preparation both affordable and great. Thank you for staying with us.

Lori thank you for your note and for taking such good care of our home: we apologize for the condition of the hot tub, it is professionally serviced every week but between the Christmas New Year Holidays there were more people than normal and the hot tub did need an extra service. I have spoken with the housekeeper and the management team so we can avoid a future disappointment. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We will try to get better photos to show off the propery better.

We never tire of hearing how relaxed and happy our guests find themselves in our home. It is the best possible compliment. Thank you! We try to encourage summer guests to try winter stays. The Santa Cruz Mountains are especially beautiful in the winter lushness.

We are thrilled your family enjoyed Thanksgiving at our home. Although there are so many adventures nearby sometimes we love just staying home and enjoying the parade of animals as well. The Turkeys are indeed abundant right now but we are hoping to see the quail return.

Sometimes people do do think about coming to Santa Cruz for the winter escapes but the tall green grasses, ferns, moss, water falls in this temperate climate is beautiful. There is an entire cupboard of jig saw puzzles to work on while the meadow turns into a wildlife sanctuary. We hope you return soon!

We love that you love Ben Lomond Bungalow. We agree Sunset Trail behind the house yields spectacular views as well as an opportunity to get up close and personal with rare albino redwood trees. Quail Hollow Ranch Park’s Discovery Trail is excellent for the entire family with easy walking trails past many different enviromental niches including pond, raparian, meadow, and an in-use horse stable. Fishing and small rental boats are available up the road at Loch Lomond Reservoir (now full and over flowing). It is stocked with trout, bass, and blue gill. The Zip Line at Mt Hermon Conference Ground is reported as the longest canopy ride on the Central Coast. The Trout Farm Inn Swim Club that burned in 2016 is well under reconstruction and we are hoping will be open soon. Roaring Camp Railroad with its 19th century steam train offers rail experiences to the Beach Boardwalk as well as mountain picnic grounds and moonlight chuck wagon barbecues and dances. Our latest addition to the meadow room in our back garden is the freestanding fireplace grill. The cooking grill has two positions to control height over the fire. While you are in the garden the stars against the black sky look so close and numerous it’s hard to imagine we are only 30 miles to Santa Clara Valley. We hope you return soon and often, but the summer fills up quickly so grab the dates when you are able.

The turkey's perching on the new driveway fence is new to me and we are glad to hear about it. Every day is different in the hollow. One day there here hundreds of ring neck doves roosting in the Oak Tree but every time I went to the window to snap a photo they would all fly away. Another month, a bad man in a big white truck attempted to run over the flock of Turkey's a few miles away.... for the longest time the Turkeys would not enter our meadow if there was a white truck parked nearby. I think what I like most about Ben Lomond Bungalow, is the variety of things to do nearby, and then come home home to relax in a place that is always spectacular any day of the year.
