By chance, I had the opportunity to visit Rapa Nui while on a break from a work trip. I stayed for three nights at Hare Nua, and am grateful that I did. Cristina and Sebastian were very communicative, kind, and helpful throughout my entire stay. And while I do speak Spanish (not very well), they speak fluent English and so were able to help me with anything I did not have the words for. The room was beautiful and comfortable, with a sliding door opening into a well manicured garden. Cristina picked me up from the airport (and also returned me to the airport) and it was a very simple process to set up. I was greeted with fresh juice and local fruits, which were delicious and much sweeter tasting than in the states. Although I did not use them, the pool and hot tub were beautiful, serene, and very clean, tucked into a corner of the garden. Chimuelo— the hotel cat— was also a delight; he sat with me and also followed me to my room several times. Being a cat person, I was very pleased to spend time with him and be greeted by him upon my returns to the hotel. Breakfast each morning was delicious and included both local fruits and fresh baked goods from the nearby bakery, but also hot food and coffee.
While I had previously scheduled a local guide, I realized after I arrived that Hare Nua also offers tours through Kapua Tours, which provided by Motus boat tour. I plan to return next year and will book my room and all tours through Hare Nua.
