"To start, what was really good: Hotel has a very good infrastructure, right on the beach, amazing swimming pool, 4 restaurants, gym, jacuzzi etc. The lobby is beatiful, very imponent. Staff at check in was very wellcoming and polite. Housekeeping does an excellent job (they clean your room twice a day, provide free water to the rooms, change towels etc). "Our stay was more than amazing. The hotel is located wonderfully, directly at the beach with amazing views. The food and cocktails were delicious and the prices for the food and drinks were fair. "This was our second stay on our trip in Sri Lanka as we enjoyed the hotel so much the first time. Lovely comfortable rooms. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. We dined in both restaurants and the food was excellent in each one. The rooftop bar has a really nice vibe to enjoy the stunning sunsets/cocktails. Would totally recommend if in this area. "

"This was our second stay at Asian Jewel and it was every bit as enjoyable as the first. Our room (Jasmine) had a direct panoramic view of Bird Lake and we saw many different species of birds as well as small animals including chipmunks, water monitors, geckos (and a cobra one one day but soon banished by the staff...). The staff here are wonderful, friendly and welcoming and nothing too much trouble, and the food is excellent with both Sri Lankan and British options. We are vegetarians and they...

"No one in reception on our arrival (2pm). When shown to our room nothing was explained, ie, where and when to get breakfast, as I happens it was in the next hotel song. The pool shower was also in that hotel. In our room the a/c had only 2 positions, on and off, therefore at night either to hot or in a cold draft. And the shower drain was blocked!! "
