Description

The most incredible sights in Peru are waiting for you on this expedition from the country's lively capital city through the wonders of the Sacred Valley. With 6 days to explore attractions from Lima to Machu Picchu, you get a chance to see the best of a land filled of heritage.

Day 1: Arrival in Lima
A driver picks you up from Lima's airport for the ride to the hotel. Get some free time to explore the modern metropolis of Lima before you settle in for the night ahead of the first leg of your adventure.

Day 2: Old City, Larco Museum & Miraflores
Start the day with a look at Lima's historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with grandiose colonial architecture in its venerable churches and estates. The Larco Museum holds a spectacular collection of gold and silver artifacts and erotic art from before the Spanish conquest, and you get a spectacular view of the cliffs over the Pacific in Miraflores before the ride back to your hotel.

Day 3: Cusco, Saksaywaman & Puka Pukara
A morning ride takes you to Lima's airport, where you board your flight to Cusco. Once you've arrived, a driver takes you to your hotel ahead of your tour through the city. Visit the Coricancha, once the Incas' most important temple and now the base for a conquistadors' church, and then get a look at the imposing Cusco Cathedral before you head out to the vast, ruined fortress of Saksaywaman. Your guide shows you the monoliths and underground shrines at Qenko and the fortifications at Puka Pukara before you head back to the hotel.

Day 4: Awana Kancha & Ollantaytambo
The day's tour brings you to the community of Awana Kancha, where you get a look at the art of textile production and check out a market stocked with local crafts. Have lunch at a local restaurant before you visit the town of Ollantaytambo, still laid out along the traditional Inca lines. See the grandiose works at the archaeological complex before you return to your hotel.

Day 5: Machu Picchu
A train ride takes you to Aguas Calientes, the last populated settlement before you reach the most spectacular archaeological site in the country. It's a short bus trip to Machu Picchu itself, where the terraces and mostly intact stone buildings show off a masterpiece of engineering amid the mountains. Lunch is served at a café in Aguas Calientes ahead of the trip back to Cusco.

Day 6: Departure
Your driver picks you up from your hotel for the ride to Cusco's airport as you finish the adventure.

If you do not understand Spanish, please do not book this tour. Even though the itinerary says we get English speaking guide, I could not understand them with their very strong Spanish accent. I did not speak or understand Spanish. First 2 city tours were very very disappointed. They put me with a group of about 18 Spanish speaking people and I felt I was lost and was very very frustrated. Guides talked a whole lot with Spanish people and I got 25% of that speech and also hard time to understand with their strong Spanish accent. I kept complaining my frustration both days then last 2 days , they gave me good English speaking guide with English speaking group. I was very frustrated at first 2 tours. Why could not do they put me with English group for city tours otherwise who can speak clear English.?

Lima Tours was the best. The drivers at the airport and hotel there on time. always. It was a seamless transfer to the hotels. The travel hosts were very knowledgeable and made the information come to life. The hotels were clean, food was good and in safe locations with lots of restaurants they you could walk. There was never any questions or hassles from the front desk. I was hospitalized in Cusco for high altitude sickness and a representative from Lima Tours checked on me, while my husband was in Machu and contacted him to let him know what was going on. I would do this, (not the high altitude sickness). Lima Tours made this trip so easy.
