Very accommodating and friendly
Great property, lots of amenities that the host allows you to use. Definitely built for vacation with games, sleds, and creature comforts. Coffee was provided. Plenty warm in the winter. Driveway is steep, but was well cleared when we arrived after a big snow. Plenty of blankets/towels/dishes/cookware.

Comfort without the crowds
Great location, just a short drive into the valley. Perfect getaway for the family. We cooked together, played pool and games, relaxed in the hot tub/sauna. Had all the needed amenities.

Always a pleasure
My husband and I have stayed at Storybook Chalet several times over the years and always love it. The home is spacious and comfy, and the location and distance to the valley is so convenient. We can’t wait to go back!

Underrated Gem
This is where you want to stay for a cozy cabin near the valley. Views are amazing from the deck. Make sure to download the check in code before you leave cell service because if you’re at the door you won’t have service and will need to drive to service to check your app.

Nice Location in Yosemite
The location for most all activities is a 30 minute drive. Being in the park and avoiding the entrance gate is a huge plus. On our trip the entrance was backed up over a mile most of the days. The house is clean (but not spotless) and has most everything you need. (Could use a pancake griddle) Beds were comfortable. We hiked each day so did not use most of the amenities such as the hot tub or billiards table but can see they would be nice. Some reviews say to bring all your food as grocery stores are far away but there is a general store at Yosemite Valley that carries a nice selection and the house has plenty of spices. Overall, I would say the house was perfect for our needs. (Someone who is super picky may notice: Some windows are fogged, grout in bathroom needs cleaned or replaced and basically just some tender loving care that comes from usage and renting.)

Great weekend trip.
Property was good but in need of some TLC. Master shower door handle is broken and water leaks thru door because seal is broken. Master bedroom mattress not very comfortable. Outdoor stairs are very slippery in the morning. House has great views and the weather was great during our stay. Thank you.

Open Floor Plan; Nice
A buddy and I went to hike Half Dome. We wanted to sleep in beds, lol. Maybe I didn't look at the photos and was just booking by hot tub, price, and availability, but I was presently surprised by the open floor plan and the comfort of the home. The neighborhood is also real nice. Tons of cooking stuff. Good trip! I'd stay right in this same home again.

Yosemite Escape from Reality
We had three couples and one teenager for our stay. All of us had ample room for sleeping and hanging out. The pool table was a big hit! The property was clean and well maintained. Communication in advance with the property owner was nice and easy. The hot tub was having some issues during our stay but the owner was very quick to respond and offer resources for getting it back on track. I've already recommended the property to another friend traveling to the area next year and would gladly stay there again myself!

Perfect for families
We loved the location and the set up was wonderful for our family. Our kids loved the pool table and hot tub. The home was very well equipped with everything we needed and if we come back to Yosemite we will definitely stay here again!

Yosemite West Chalet
This house worked out really well for our family to stay during our trip to Yosemite. Right at 30 minute drive to spots in the valley, so really convenient. Our teenagers enjoyed the pool table and hot tub. Kitchen supplied well for us to make breakfast and dinner with groceries picked up in El Portal.

Yosemite House
Staying in Yosemite West has all the benefits of being in a home, but also very close to the Yosemite Valley attractions. Food/Meals for the family requires planning! Going to the Valley for Food is a good option but you must arrive early (before 8) to park where you want (in July). Leaving the Park for food is challenging due to re-entry crowds.

Nice Location
We had 6 people and could sleep pretty comfortably. It's a great location, about 30min to Yosemite Valley. The place is very functional with a good amount of misc cooking items. The place is getting pretty worn and we had multiple issues with the hot tub (Couldn't change temp and jets stopped working), but overall we had a great time and enjoyed the place.

Wonderful Stay!
The property is a wonderful location and proximity to Yosemite Valley! The house was as described and stocked with basic needs and extras we weren't expecting. We enjoyed the hot tub in the afternoon as well before heading back out! The cabin could use a deep cleaning but was otherwise clean for the everyday used areas! The owners are very quick to respond to all questions and addressed a small issue within a couple of hours for us! We would definitely stay again!

The location of the house was great; staying in the park was awesome. We had four adults and four kids/tweens. The pool table, hot tub and sauna were great features to come back to after a long day of hiking. The kitchen and bathrooms are fully stocked for everything you might need (spices, utensils/pots/pans/paper towels/dish soap/tp/shampoo/conditioner/soap). There were plenty of towels for everyone. We also used the grill one night. Previous reviews about the cobwebs, dust and dated furniture were accurate…however we were looking for a comfortable mountain house to retreat to after long days of exploring, not a place to take Instagram worthy photos so not a factor for us. The views at sunrise/sunset off the deck were incredible. The upstairs master bath has no door, so if you are sharing that bathroom with whoever is sleeping on the pullout sofa just be aware that you’ll need to take turns. Checkout: You’ll have to wash and put away dishes and wash towels/put in dryer before you leave, so you’ll need to make sure you plan for that. The one suggestion I have for improving the checkout process is to state in the listing that you have to go find a place to dump your trash or pay the housekeeper a $75 fee. I would have liked to either known this up front or just have the $75 included in the total cost. Overall the house did the job for our group.

Great location.
Perfect location just 25 minutes to the valley. Easy check in and check out. The cabin is well stocked with everything we needed. Eric was quick to respond with any questions. We loved our stay, we’d be back and recommend this property.

Great location, nice size for our group
Property was as expected from the description, which is always good. Property owner was very nice and responsive. There were repairs being done to the water system in the development causing water needing to be boiled prior to use. This was completely outside their control but would have been nice to know prior to arrival so we could bring in bottled water. As with other reviews, the property could use a thorough cleaning. Surfaces and bathrooms were clean but there were cobwebs in the corners of the bedrooms and cereal left by past renters under the living room furniture.

Great space for families - we would return! There was a power outage in the neighborhood just as we entered on arrival which was of concern, but fortunately power came back after about 30 minutes, well before dark.

Wonderful way to experience Yosemite with Family
The house was clean and tidy. Kitchen well stocked. Lots of amenities, pool table, small sauna in the master bathroom, hot tub, deck, etc. The sound on the TV wasn’t very good, but that wasn’t what we came to Yosemite to spend much time doing so it was fine for us. The host was super responsive, great communication, and was uncharacteristically generous in being flexible with a last minute rescheduling request because of unforeseen circumstances. I assume they can’t always be so accommodating, but this time worked out and we were incredibly grateful. It was a lovely place to stay amidst the beautiful trees with a lovely view. We stayed as a family reunion of sorts and it was nice to have the space to cook meals and spend time together in the mornings/evenings in a way that we wouldn’t really have been able to do if we had stayed in rooms at Yosemite lodge or campsites (if you’re staying with aging parents who aren’t up to that anymore). The drive to the valley was reasonable and you got to see tunnel view every day. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely visit again.

Amazing Weekend
Yosemite does most of the heavy lifting when it comes to having an amazing vacation, but is was so wonderful to have such a lovely place to come home to after hiking in the valley. We used the sauna and hot tub to sooth aching muscles and the pool table to relax and enjoy each other company. Every morning when I woke up and came out of my bedroom I was greeted with a view that took my breath away. We all had such a wonderful time and would definitely stay again.

Wonderful Vacation
We had a wonderful vacation. Location was perfect and an easy drive into the valley. I was afraid the cabin would be dark inside, but it had a very light and open feel. We would definitely rent again.

WINTER WONDERLAND
Great location, great people we will be back. The cabin was so well stocked that it made the trip very smooth. The kitchen was well stocked so we were even able to make muffins the first night. The next day there was a blizzard that took the electric out of the entire valley, we had enough blankets, there were lanterns, snow shovel and matches. The manager took such good care of us. They checked on us making sure that we had everything we needed. We needed help putting on our chains and they contacted someone that came out to help us. They kept in contact with the rangers to find out when the road would be cleared and kept us updated. Everyone went so far above and beyond. We had a great time it was so beautiful, we could snowshoe right from the cabin door. It could not have been a better weekend!!!

Good location
The internet stop working after 4 hours there, owner did not fix it. Don’t go there and expect good wifi. Good location inside the park so you can skip the traffic. Kitchen have a lot of amenities. There are a lot of blankets and pillows.

We are sorry to hear that the internet stopped working during your stay. Here is what we did to try and fix it during the guest's stay: Internet service is provided by satellite link via Starlink system. We had our local tech person check the the system within 2 hours of the guests call. They checked satellite to confirm no obstructions and checked/changed cable from satellite to router. Problem appeared to be with the router and a service ticket was opened with Starlink to get a replacment router. We apologize for the inconvenience on your visit. The Starlink internet service has worked flawlessly for over a year with only one previous outage for 2 hours (which self corrected).

This is our third stay at this property and we are never disappointed. The location is perfect for excursions to all of the popular park destinations. The home is very comfortable and the surrounding property is beautiful! Definitely recommend this property!

Winter Wonderland!!!
We loved our stay at the Cedar Chalet!!! Felt like we were staying at our family’s cabin tucked in the woods of Yosemite. We had everything we needed and loved staying so close to the valley and we’re able to venture down there a few times. It wasn’t a fancy or modern cabin but it was exactly what we wanted, a cozy, lived in, comfortable cabin. We loved sitting in the hot tub while it was snowing. Our group of 4 adults and an infant and had plenty of room to spread out! We would love to come back and stay here in spring or summer!!

Great winter vacation
Place needs a handyman to come on and fix some minor issues. Gutter along entry way deck, faucet in kitchen, faucet in downstairs bathroom tub, toilet valve in upstairs bathroom has a slight leak. Despite these issues everything works and we enjoyed the house. Perfect for our family, plenty of room. We got snowed in for two days and we’re really grateful that the heater works well. No worries of losing power because lines are underground. And of course, the pool table! It saved us from boredom while the snow fell and the wind blew. For skiers, the proximity to badger pass resort can’t be beat. Will definitely consider renting this house again.

Beautiful Getaway

Wonderful Stay
My husband and I have been staying at Storybook Chalet for several years in a row and there is a reason we keep coming back. The property is beautiful and in close proximity to the park. It’s clean, spacious, and as represented in the listing and photos. Eric and Jess are also a pleasure to work with, and they’ve always been responsive and kind in all our communications. We just left and are already looking forward to returning next year!

House with easy access to Yosemite Valley
The house was quite comfortable, good beds, sufficient common space and a well equipped kitchen. House was clean, though hot tub and pool table could have used more attention. Initially, I was prepared to find the pool table overwhelming, which it was a bit, cramping the living room furniture and dining space a bit. That said, half of our group of six had a good time playing pool. Having been advised to stay within Yosemite to avoid long commutes in each day, this house fit the bill. The Valley was only a short drive away, allowing us more time to enjoy the natural wonders.

Great location
Great location for visiting Yosemite Valley area and Mariposa Grove. House was great with just a few issues that were resolved quickly. The hot tub needed a deep cleaning. There were some droppings from some critter in the cabinets under the stove. I cleaned dishes before using and never saw anything. Overall we loved the spot and the house had everything we needed.
