The old Abbie hotel has been extensively refurbished in the last few years.
It’s a fantastic location where you only have to walk minutes to the Central Square and to the River Thames, with many amenities nearby.
I booked two rooms and asked them to be located next to each other no problem. They were next to each other located on the ground floor even better.
Automated self check-in was fine with me at the age of nearly 63 but there were people struggling and there’s no staff at the kiosk in the hotel.
Once we had the swipe key for our rooms, we went to the rooms.
Unfortunately, the room that my son and partner were sharing for two nights there was a massive big brown stain on the beautiful carpet which was grey.
In my bedroom in the bathroom, I noted a large tile which was off the wall.
I contacted through like a messenger on Expedia to the staff who kindly came and had a look at both rooms and took photographs. This was in the evening before we went out for a meal.
Neither of these issues stopped us having a good time in Abingdon.
Because it was the weekend nothing was done to remedy these faults which I believe in many respects, somebody in their team must’ve known about these faults before they rented the rooms out.
I’ve been speaking with the team through Expedia and they have been very helpful.
Would I stop in this hotel again?
The answer is yes because I know that the teams work hard to make things right but.
The rooms for the Price should’ve been immaculate
